Hi! I’m Amy,

Teacher, mother, dog lover

I have been a teacher since 1995 when I first started my career in an alternative school setting. This means I taught high school students who had been expelled for acts of violence against staff or students of their previous school. Back in the day, those students seemed to be few. Anyway, that was my introduction to teaching.

After that, I taught for 16 years in a parochial school. Then 10 years ago I made the jump to a public junior high. I am currently teaching 7th-grade English Language Arts. I love the enthusiasm and the humor these kids bring to the classroom.

Outside of my job, I have a husband and 3 amazing, intelligent children of my own: two girls and a boy. I live on a 1.5-acre oasis just a mile or two from the city. On my "summers off" I like to garden, read, paint, swim, and spend time with my old dog (not the one in the picture.) And, as I'm sure is true with most teachers, I also spend my summer catching up on all of those projects I can't get to during the school year.
